Bicycling

winter bicycling
Author Last Post
Sometimes there is opportunity for winter bike riding, such as when all the snow is gone from the route, or there is a special ride.
On Dec 3, 2016 the city of Cedar Rapids opened up the new section of Highway 100 to the bikers runners and walkers from anywhere. The westbound lane was finished but not yet ready for auto traffic on the eastbound side.
So approximately 150 people or so partook in the ride/walk/run over the 4 mile section, for a total of 8 miles.
And it was totally free of snow or sand due to the warmth of November.
At the far end, the DOT was showing off one of its new articulated snow plows, which has a tower and steering on the back so they can do both lanes at once with this plow. Several of the 'fat tire' bikes were spotted. They really hum when you are next to them.
