A year ago at Tower of London with members Yvonne Duggan and Gloria Jackson
Good times and good friends,
-Brenda Garbe, EISC President
The baton has been passed and the new board is starting their terms, many thanks to the past board for setting the club up for success with their hard work. I'm pleased to be serving as your President (again) keeping the tradition of "The Outdoor Fun People" moving forward. In addition to skiing, a new focus of the ski club includes pure travel and sightseeing trips that have everything to do with learning and enjoying new areas and cultures. This had been hinted at by an informal survey that Martin Stimson had initiated last year. The board will be making special efforts to feature some new locations, but if you've had a good experience somewhere you can share with our new Trip board members Linda Berry, Mike Buckman and Steve Cummings we want to know.
Nothing Nights – Wed Eve – CJ’s Bar and Grill 7:00; Biking 5:30
A long-time tradition is to socialize on Wednesday nights, since there is nothing going on! We will meet for supper and drinks at 7:00pm and see what’s going on. By popular demand we have moved back to CJ’s Sports Bar and Grill, 62 17th Ave SW. CJ’s has a varied menu and good prices. Most of the time we are in the back room. Watch here each month for the location or check the East Iowa Ski Club website calendar. Interested in having Nothing Nights at a different venue? Visit us at CJ’s and discuss with the regulars, perhaps they are up for a change.
Come on down! You don’t want to miss out.
Thank you for all the cards and gifts members brought to the Ski Club Post Party. It was so fun to read the cards and to chat with everyone there. Throughout this whole ordeal, it has always been Ski Club friends that we could depend upon for sending best wishes, helping us maneuver the wheelchair ramp, inners visits and whatever we needed to make the day go better. We treasure each of you. ---Beth Cottingham and Mary Day.
Season Ski Pass Purchase
We've noticed that many members purchase season ski passes, such as EPIC or IKON, to save money.
You may be aware that we often work with a travel agent, Marcie Hawks of Ski.com. If you are contemplating buying an EPIC or IKON pass and are joining us on an East Iowa Ski Club trip, you can help the club by buying your epic/Ikon passes through Marcie Hawks at Ski.com. Then they can be counted toward the complimentary lift tickets OR offer each club member a discount off of the ground package, $40 for full epic or Ikon. Or they can keep track and then offer it back to the club as a full discount or sponsor a party if enough people sign up.
It helps Marcie and Ski.com and the prices are the same as if you bought online.

Spring Picnic Sat June 2nd - Squaw Creek Park, Meadowlark Pavilion
Join your friends at Meadowlark Pavilion in Squaw Creek Park in Marion on Saturday June 2 for a picnic. It’s a good day to get out that fun car and drive to the Park. Don’t forget your outdoor games, card games, and food items to share. Games and conversation start at 2pm and we’ll eat around 6 pm. Bring a meat to grill for supper if you like. We will provide a grill, table settings, pop, and bottled water. There is electricity available for crock pots.
It’s a Beer Taste opportunity. Bring a special Craft Beer to share with your friends – one that you’ve loved or wanted to try. We will also have some box wine available.
Wear your favorite t-shirt from a great vacation or a tacky t-shirt for the fun of it. We’ll go over the summer events, play some games and have a picnic. Watch for sign-ups for the summer events – such as the Kernels baseball game on Fri July 13. Also, we will be announcing ski trip destinations for 2019. Hope to see you there.

Our plan for this year’s ride is to ride from Single Speed to Single Speed!! That’s right - there is one in Cedar Falls and in Waterloo :) We will ride from Gateway Park in Cedar Falls to the historically renovated Wonder Bread building (now the Waterloo Single Speed), have lunch, drinks and enjoy the ambience of our surroundings. Then we will make our way back to the Single Speed in CF and stop there to celebrate the end of a great day of biking with EISC friends. Of course, you can always stop for dessert at Scratch Cupcakery or even do some shopping at the great little shops in downtown CF :o) No need to sign up, but if you let us know you're coming, we'll be sure to wait for you!
Any questions or suggestions, you can call or email Jane and Wendall Sents
Thanks!! Jane and Wendall :o)
