President's Message

Marty Stimson | Published on 10/31/2024

Did somebody say, "ski season is coming"? Well Golly Gosh - yes, it is! I do like these nice fall weather days, but I can still remember my skiing days when this time of year rolled around when I couldn't wait to head out on a club ski trip. Those were the days! Those were also the days when we would sometimes take two, and occasionally three buses to Welch and Afton Alps for a weekend ski trip. Times have changed but we are still a ski club and even though we aren’t filling three buses and doing more than two west trips in a year, your board is still working hard to bring some good ski trips to our club. The Whitefish trip will be a blast. Unfortunately, the trip is full but if you are still looking for a weekend ski trip, check out the two weekend trip articles in this issue that Todd Eadie has put together.

Before I leave our ski trips, we are hard at work planning the ‘25/’26 ski trips. Please, we need your input. This is YOUR club and we want to know where you want to go and what kind of accommodations you want. We are putting two trips back on your plate for next year so help us make these two trips the best they can be, and with that we also need trip chairs. Most week-long ski trips pay a $450 trip credit for running the trip. I really like this club so please step forward and help us with either running a trip – or running for the board.

Moving on to our warm weather trips--the “Heartland of the Canadian Rockies” by motor coach and inside passage cruise September 1 and returning September 17 through Cosmos looks to be full but you still have an interest reach out to Diane Scholl to see if you can still get on either leg of this trip. We will be announcing the New Orleans trip at the November meeting. That covers our 2025 major trips, so we need your ideas for our ‘25/’26 trips.

Before I wrap up my message, I can’t leave without again asking for your help. First, I will always say our club is one of the best. Like our October meeting. The camaraderie of 50 some members getting together for our Fall Halloween meeting is nothing short of just great.

Kindly,
Your club President - Marty Stimson
