63 people got to experience the highly anticipated award winning ski club Soup and Chili Cook Off. If you missed it you really missed out. It was better than the Bears beating the Packers (sorry Rosanne). No lie. While it was cold and blustery outside, the newer Red Cedar Lodge was toasty with the beautiful warm rock fireplace with hot cider, hot chocolate and a touch of Schnapps.
The cook off competition was extremely competitive with some newcomers asserting their dominance. Dark horse
Daryl Hokanson took the lead with his aromatic BBB Big Barbecue Bourbon Chili. Second place was
Judy Monk (with what you might expect from Judy) with her Crazy Chili. Third place was
Rick Baker with his exclusive Chili Cheese Dog Chili. The soup category was won by perpetual winning contender
Denny Bossard with his Comfort Chicken Noodle with an astounding 51 votes. Second place was tied between
Loretta Conrey with her Cheesey Potato Broccoli and
Jane Sents with her Zuppa Olive Garden which instantly transported you to the Mediterranean.
Ruth Van Tol activated everyone’s taste buds with her version of Potato Soup. There were also many notable entry’s by
Vivian Baier, Jeff Sherman, Jeff Owen and
Tim Gull. To all the winners congratulation’s enjoy your wine and winning, but beware, don’t rest. We are all fine tuning our entry’s for next year.
The Member meeting also kicks off the 2026 year with the historic election of new Board members. Leanne Eddins has asserted herself as an early favorite with her declaration of “I Like To Party”. Be sure to attend the February member meeting to vote on the future leadership of the non-partisan ski club party.
