September Kickoff Meeting Recap

Saturday morning started out as a dismal rainy day for the ski club at the beautiful Morgan Creek lodge. The rain suddenly stopped. It was as if Janet Stimson and Rosanne Van Cura who continued on to Rome after the Ireland Scotland trip asked the Pontiff himself to bless the night. The evening became a pleasant Fall like night for 50 ski club members.
“Come for the meeting, stay for the food” should be the motto for a typical meeting. Judging from the plates of food I think people are finding that there are more talented chefs in the club than most restaurants.
There are few clubs that offer the variety of interesting events as the East Iowa Ski Club (EISC). Dawn Novetzke announced that the next culinary event would be at the Midnight Smoker. It’s not what you think. It’s really good barbeque. Todd Eadie got us all excited for the ski trips with trips to Breckenridge, Colorado, Midwest weekend ski trips to Devils head/Cascade in Baraboo, WI, Granite Peak in Wausau, WI and impromptu trips to Sundown or Galena. If you want to go sign up ASAP. There are also intent/signup sheets for Savanah/Charleston and a cruise off the cost of Spain (Morocco and Portugal).
The next Member meeting is October 17th @ Knight of Columbus Hall, 1620 E Ave, Cedar Rapids. Come dressed in costume for the spooky Halloween meeting. We will update everyone on upcoming trips/events. Plan to sign-up for these fun activities.
