Cancellation Policy:
Responsibility

It will be the responsibility of the trip taker to notify the trip chairperson or assistant (hereinafter referred to as “Chairperson”) in writing of their intent to cancel. Notification may be by telephone to the Chairperson on or before the cancellation date followed by a letter, or by a letter postmarked at the latest, on the established cancellation date. If a trip cancellation date isn’t identified (e.g. one day activity), then the last minute cancellation takes precedence.

Authorized Cancellation

When a trip taker notifies the Chairperson of intent to cancel before the cancellation date established by the East Iowa Ski Club for that trip, all monies will be refunded.

Cancellation

When a trip taker notifies the Chairperson of intent to cancel after the established cancellation date, but prior to the last minute cancellation date, it is considered a late cancellation. If airline tickets need to be reissued, the canceling trip taker will be responsible for the penalty to change the ticket. First preference for a replacement goes to the waiting list. If no waiting list, the trip taker can designate a replacement. If no replacement can be found, you will be responsible for any additional unrecoverable costs (such as transportation, lodging, etc).

Last Minute Cancellation

A last minute cancellation occurs when a trip taker notifies the Chairperson of intent to cancel within seven (7) days of a one-day or weekend trip, or within 21 days of a weeklong trip. This type of cancellation creates difficulty in finding last minute replacements. There will be an automatic 10% penalty (of total trip price) assessed on all last minute cancellations, in addition to any unrecoverable costs incurred (such as transportation, lodging, etc) due to the lateness of the cancellation.

Refunds

Refunds to authorized cancelers will be paid as notification is received and processed through the Club treasurer. All monies paid by late or last minute cancelers will be held by the Club until the financial records for the trip have been completed. The cancelers will then be eligible for a refund of the balance of their money paid less any penalties and costs incurred by the lateness of their cancellation.

I have read and understand the above cancellation policies of the East Iowa Ski Club. I also understand that trip prices can fluctuate due to unforeseen circumstances. I will act accordingly and abide by these policies.

Bus Trip Itinerary

We’re going to Niagara Falls!!!  We’re at 22 for this trip but we have room for more.  Give Marty Stimson a call if you would like to go – we might be able to still get you in.

This trip is packed with lots to do, plus, you will have plenty of room to stretch and relax on our 53-passenger motor coach with only 20 folks needed to make this trip a go. On May 13th, we load our Motor Coach from Cedar Rapids for a scenic tour up through Wisconsin, Michigan and into

Canada on our way to Niagara Falls – with a variety of fun stops along the way. This trip includes our own private motor coach, hotel accommodations, breakfasts at each hotel stay, five dinner meals, and all ticket and entrance fees. A more detailed itinerary follows:

Day 1: we depart at 8:00 am from Cedar Rapids for our first travel day to Escanaba, Michigan. It’s an easy 400-mile trip up through Madison and Green Bay so we will arrive in plenty of time to relax and have dinner. We might even find a local winery to tour.

Day 2: we’re off for a short 2 ½ hour ride to Paradise, Michigan where we visit the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum.  It’s only an hour ride from there down to Mackinaw City. On our way we will stop at the Soo Locks in Sault Ste. Marie hoping to see one of the ships going through the locks.  Then it’s to our hotel and dinner in Mackinaw City

Day 3: we get on the Mackinac Island Ferry for a tour of Mackinac Island and then back for a bus tour of Mackinaw City, then back to our same hotel and dinner.

Day 4: we’re off to Dearborn and the Henry Ford Museum. We have a 4-hour bus ride so there is plenty of time to go through the museum before we head for our hotel and dinner for the night.

Day 5: is off to Niagara Falls through Canada.  It’s a 4-hour ride but it might be a little longer getting through Canada customs on our way. We will have time in the afternoon to explore some of the area before arriving at our hotel and dinner.

Day 6: will be touring more of the Niagara Falls sites, then back to our hotel again.

Day 7: is an early morning for our ride to Cleveland to tour Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum before we find our hotel and dinner.

And Day 8: we are on our way home. It’s a longer day but we get home on a Saturday so those that are still working can rest up for the day before going back to work Monday.

Sign-ups for this trip started at the November meeting so we are off to a good start at making this trip a go. We will need 20 people to make this trip work. You can send your deposit check to EISC at PO Box 843, Cedar Rapids, IA 52406, or sign up online.  We set this trip up as double occupancy so please let us know your roommate choice when signing up.

We are still looking for a trip chair for this fun trip. You can reach out to Marty Stimson (319-389-4156) for any trip or chair questions.
