We met at the Country Inn & Suites, Woodbury, MN & Green Mill Restaurant for a ‘Welcome Reception’ where EISC members enjoyed hour d’oeurves that were savory and delicious! Saturday, 12 members toured the ‘Paisley
Park’ estate of Prince where he completed much of his creative song writing, recording and producing. Prince was born in Minneapolis and loved by many people worldwide. Then, we enjoyed shopping at many stores at the Mall of America. Saturday evening, 22 members enjoyed a candle light dinner at Crooners Supper Club featuring RIVER - a music trio band covering songs of Carole King, Joni Mitchell and Carly Simon. This was an hour and 30-minute show with music so good that it brought many people out of their seats applauding. The trio performed ‘Sweet Seasons’ by Carole King as their final song. This seemed very fitting since many EISC members enjoy group activities of all seasons. Sunday, members finished the weekend with shopping and sightseeing in Hastings, MN. Thank you to LeeAnn Eddins, Trip Co-Chair, for organizing these activities that were amazing!
Skiing at Afton Alps and Welch Village
There were 19 skiers from our club at Afton Alps and Welch Village sporting the green ski pole flags. Although the Midwest area had some warm temperatures in December, that did not stop our group from enjoying skiing on this trip in early January 2024. Cooler temperatures arrived the week before was perfect timing. The ski runs were in good skiing condition and were not too heavily crowded; commonly found during the peak season. New members AJ Lindaman, Laurel Sherman, and Nathan Hahn (from Wisconsin) joined on both days on the slopes. EISC member, Steve Sartori from Bloomington, MN also joined us at Afton Alps and Welch Village. Everyone admired Brian Keller’s ski coat that has faded after many ski trips out West. (i.e. Park City, UT). Brian jokingly said, “My ski coat was originally red when I bought it 30 years ago.” Tim Gull’s cousin Steve, from Minneapolis, joined us on Sunday at Welch Village. Tim said, “After all the time we have known each other this was the first time we were able to ski together.” James Toothaker invited his sisters Mary & Margaret for a great weekend of skiing. Jeff Sherman enjoyed skiing with daughter Laurel Sherman. These are only a few of many EISC members who skied at Afton Alps and Welch Village. Thank you everyone that attended!
